Little Otis and a Big Challenge
Little Otis and a Big Challenge

At just three and a half months old, Chinese Crested puppy Otis has already faced quite an adventure. After suffering a traumatic fracture of his right tibia and fibula, Otis came to us for specialist surgical treatment.
After careful discussion with his owner, we decided to attempt the challenging option of repairing the fracture and saving his leg.
The surgery involved carefully realigning the broken bones and securing them with two small plates to provide strong, stable fixation. This was a particularly complex procedure because of Otis’s tiny size and the fracture’s proximity to his developing growth plates. We were delighted that postoperative X-rays showed an excellent result, with the bones beautifully aligned and securely fixed.
Otis then faced a period of rest and recovery, with close monitoring and follow-up X-rays to check his progress. Given his young age, he has some growing to do, so we will be keeping a careful eye on how his leg develops.
A huge well done to little Otis for getting through such a big operation, and thank you to his owner for placing their trust in our team. We’ll be cheering him on every step of the way as he recovers! 🐾
